December Daily 2013

Monday, November 25, 2013

So I'm (still!) not totally sure what I'm doing for my "December Daily"-ish book - but I have picked a color scheme. The papers I've picked ended up being more traditional than I had planned, but are still modern. Lots of red, green, blue, chalkboard, gold, and wood grain. I actually cut my beloved Crate Paper gold dot and gold doily vellum papers and I'm so glad I did! (I'm not the only one who has heart palpitations when I cut a beautiful piece of paper, right? It's getting easier, but still...)

I was originally going to go with more vintage looking papers with pinks and blues and silvers, but I got my fill of that with my #30Lists project I'm doing. (It's not too late to sign up for that, by the way.)

I've pulled papers and bits from several paper collections including Glitz 'Hello December', Heidi Swapp 'Believe', American Crafts 'Kringle and Company', Studio Calico's 'Wonderland' and Basic Grey's '25th and Pine'. I also have some overlays that I'm going to use.

I'm using a Studio Calico Handbook. I'm a little bit scared to do anything to the cover. Have you painted one before? Any tips? Link me up in the comments to any pictures or tutorials you have. I'm very open to suggestions on this one!

I got out some stamps, stickers, and flair to make these 4x6 cards:

I have some little bits and wood veneers in this cute little muffin tin I found at an antique store ($5!).

I have pulled a lot more stickers and bits too.

So are you ready to do December Daily? Or Journal Your Christmas? Or something in between?

I love reading each and every comment! Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook!

  4. All the stuff you pulled together looks wonderful. I am working on getting my album together as well. I do find that I struggle with not having the pictures. To me the pictures tell the story and then I add stuff to them so I know there will be changes to my album as the month progresses :)

    1. I like the idea of prepping pages before I start... but ultimately it's easier for me to make pages once I have the pictures and know exactly what's going where.

  8. Your organization is very inspiring -- I've been procrastinating, but I think I'm going to get everything set up this weekend while I enjoy leftovers and watch some football. I do have a question: I'm obsessed with the reverse black phrases in the last photo (Winter Wonderland, Peace on Earth) and was wondering which brand/line they were from, as I think I must have them in my album this year! Thanks ;-)

    1. Good luck with getting everything together! It was fun once I started :) I cut out those phrases from a 12x12 sheet. It's from October Afternoon's "Silent Night" line. I got it on 2Peas.
