May Project Life Part 2

Thursday, July 30, 2015

Today I have the rest of my May Project Life pages. July is almost over and I still need to do June! I had reservations at the beginning of the year, but I'm really loving doing a monthly Project Life with some 12x12 layouts.

Left side: me with an adorable Shasta reproduction camper, our clean back porch, an evening walk, mine and Mom's delayed National Scrapbooking Day celebration, and a coworker leaving our store.

Joe and I went for a walk after dinner one night and the stars were starting to come out as we got back to the house. Joe has a cool app on his phone that shows you all the constellations. We sat outside and identified stars and planets for a little while. Isn't this Studio Calico card perfect for this occasion?!

Right side: what our feet looked like after we participated in a fire walk, books I read, learning how to teach pregnancy yoga in teacher training, Cinco de Mayo.

Books I read in May:

Sympathy Card

Monday, July 27, 2015

I recently made a sympathy card. It's simple but pretty! I used a few chipboard accents and a sympathy stamp set I got from Studio Calico. So glad I bought that - it's come in handy a couple of times!

Have a great Monday!

May Project Life Part 1

Thursday, July 23, 2015

Hello! Today I'm sharing one of my Project Life pages from May. Simple Scrapper recently had a Stash Bash where we had lots of challenges to do to encourage us to use up and organize our stash. Challenge #1 was to make a page in 30 minutes using things currently on your desk. I already had my pictures printed for May. I grabbed a few Studio Calico cards and used some from Shimelle's "Lovely" collection. Here's how far I got in 30 minutes:

It took me a little more than 30 minutes because I still had to cut the pictures apart and figure out which photos would go on which page, but it was fun to push myself to get it done quickly and without getting caught up in searching for the perfect supply. It didn't take me long to go back and add text and just a few embellishments.

Have you ever tried to make a page in 30 minutes? I'll have a couple more May Project Life pages to show you next week.

Cruise layout

Thursday, July 9, 2015

I had lots of pictures, so I decided to make a layout about all the towel animals our steward made us on the ship. It was something different every day.

I used Basic Grey's "Adrift" collection (did I get my money's worth on this collection or what? I used it on this layout and these pocket pages).

I think this little flair button is super cute.

I used enamel dots, wood veneers, and leftover Studio Calico stars to embellish almost every photo.

26 Books - June

Monday, July 6, 2015

Time for a reading update! By the way, I am SO GLAD I started doing this little reading challenge this year. It's made me realize how much I love getting lost in a book.

1. A book you own but haven't read
2 - a book that was made into a movie
3 - a book you pick solely because of the cover
4 - a book your friend loves
5 - a book published this year
6 - a book by an author you've never read before
7 - a book by an author you love
8 - a book at the bottom of your "to be read" pile
9 - a book with a color in the title
10 - a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
11 - a book you started but never finished
12 - a book with a lion, a witch, or a wardrobe
13 - a book with a female heroine
14 - a book set in the summer
15 - a book of poems
16 - a book you learned about because of this challenge
17 - a book that will make you smarter
18 - a book with a blue cover
19 - a book you were supposed to read in school. But didn't.
20 - a book "Everyone" has read but you
21 - a book with a great first line
22 - a book with pictures
23 - a book from the library
24 - a book you loved... read it again!
25 - a book that is more than 10 years old
26 - a book based on a true story

The first book I read this month satisfied #4 and is called The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult. A friend let me borrow one of Jodi's books a couple of years ago and I loved it. I asked her for a recommendation for more books by this author and she said this was her favorite one. It's a heavy read about a heavy subject - the Holocaust - but it was absolutely amazing. It tells stories from a survivor and from an officer at a camp. I read it very quickly because I just couldn't put it down.

The next book I read in June was Big Little Lies from Liane Moriarty. I'm using it for #1 because I bought it sometime last year and hadn't read it yet. It's a mystery book that kept me guessing and my jaw dropped at the end of it -no spoilers though. :) It's a great easy summer read. I started it before vacation, but read most of it on the way home from South Carolina.

Are we friends on GoodReads? I'm keeping up with my reading challenge over there.

Cruise Project Life pages

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

I finished the rest of my cruise layouts - I ended up with a couple of pocket pages, an insert, this layout, and another that I'll show you later this week. I used Basic Grey's "Adrift" collection for most of my layouts.

Full layout:

Left side: getting there, our luggage, the room, and the ship.

I had a good time mixing in the Carolina Moon Project Life kit from Studio Calico.

Right side: our excursions to St. Thomas and the Bahamas, fun drinks, the shows on the ship, getting sea sick one day (not fun!).

I used a small insert to document sitting outside on the deck, taking a Behind the Fun tour, and things we did on our At Sea days.

I used the back of the insert for documenting the excursion to San Juan on our 4th anniversary and the fancy dinner we went to one night.
