Project Life Weeks 41 and 42

Sunday, November 30, 2014

I used some Studio Calico goodies to document weeks 41 & 42 in my Project Life. I had a few things leftover from last month's The Underground kit and it mixed nicely with the Walden PL kit that just came out.

Left side: I used my fall card from a recent swap, I made chili on a cold night, and we went to Boone, NC for the day.

I liked using up some of those diamond shaped puffy stickers from The Underground PL kit. They're too cute.

And these rub-ons are awesome. I have a love/hate relationship with rub-ons. I don't like when I mess them up and don't get every bit transferred... but I must say, the ones from Studio Calico have pretty much swayed me to use them more often.

Right side: fun at Target, a gorgeous sunset in Knoxville, getting our flu shots, a leak in the living room ceiling (!), and rearranging a pharmacy.

Can I just tell you how much I love this stamp from the Baker Bridge add-on? L-O-V-E.

I hope you and your friends & family have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!

Christmas Card Ideas

Thursday, November 20, 2014

Mom and I got together last week and made some Christmas cards to send to the Caring Hearts Card Drive. We participated last year and had a great time crafting together. We ended up sending 22 cards this year! I'll be back next week to show you the rest. I grouped these together to show you how to make some pretty cards.

1. Use washi tape to create simple cards:

2. Go ahead and cut a couple copies of things on your Cameo and create different looks:

3. Use die cuts for quick cards:

4. Use different color combinations to keep cards interesting and fresh:

Come back Monday to get even more ideas for Christmas cards.

Silver Embossed Winter cards

Monday, November 17, 2014

I participated in 2 Project Life card swaps this month... both Christmas and winter themed! I turned on a holiday music station on iTunes to get me in the Christmas spirit and got to work. This card swap was called "Silver Bells" and had to feature the color silver. I looked around on Pinterest and got inspired by a silver and blue Christmas card. I used the Hero Arts Message Bursts stamp and silver embossing powder to create my cards.

I stamped the sentiment and then embossed it. I love how shiny the embossing powder looks. The silver polka dot paper is part of the Necessities line from My Mind's Eye. I placed tiny rhinestone stars from Freckled Fawn on some of the polka dots.

Are you ready for winter??

Disney Project Life Week 40

Tuesday, November 11, 2014

I ordered some things from Becky Higgins website the other day (I got free shipping since my order was over $35!) and instantly fell in love with the Notes & Things value kit. Every card has shiny gold on it ::swoon:: I decided to use it for our recent trip to Disney. I didn't want to use traditional Disney colors in my PL album... I think this collection flows nicely with the rest of my weekly spreads.

Full spread (without the insert):

Left side:

I had fun mixing in some supplies from Freckled Fawn and Studio Calico:

I also used a Close To My Heart Flip Flap to add 2 extra photos to this spread. Joe and I always take silly pics in hats and Mickey ears. I ran out of room to add them. The adhesive is barely noticeable on the pocket above.

Right side:

A favorite quote from Cinderella:

Left side and front of insert:

Front of insert: I documented our Keys to the Kingdom behind-the-scenes tour. It was awesome!

Back of insert and right side:

Back of insert: I included info about Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom and the Party for the Senses at Epcot.

Have you scrapped Disney with non-traditional colors?

Color Shine Project Life cards

Friday, November 7, 2014

The last Project Life Card Swap I participated in during October was all about using your Heidi Swapp Color Shine. I decided to create a background using Color Shine. I sprayed and overlapped Gold, Primrose, Peach, and Amethyst to create an ombre effect. The large wood veneer is from American Crafts... Mom and I got them at one of the classes we attended during CKC.

The papers ended up looking like this. I made 3 since I was going to cut them into 3x4 cards and I wasn't sure how the wood veneer "stencil" would look once they were cut up. I ended up not using some cards because they only had a giant heart or part of a heart on them.

I combined 2 different stamps from Ali Edwards' Story Stamp Prompt set to create a stacked "Love this". I inked my stamp and placed a small Post-it note over the other parts of the stamps.

Here's how the cards turned out.

That Color shine is so shiny and pretty!

Have a great day!

Project Life Weeks 38 & 39

Wednesday, November 5, 2014

Have I mentioned how much I love combining weeks? I might even be able to get all of 2014 in a regular 12x12 binder. Maybe. Here are weeks 38 and 39. I mostly used The Underground PL kit from Studio Calico. The first day of fall occurred during this time period, and I thought the colors in this kit were perfect for that.

Full spread:

Left side: Rhythm & Roots, new iPhones, and Yoga Rocks the Park.

This card with tags on it was the perfect title card.

This overlay is from Crate Paper. I used a skinny washi tape from Studio Calico to adhere it.

Right side: first Jamberry manicure, trying on Halloween costumes at Walmart, a fun new tote for the plane (we went to Disney the next week), and a breakdown of how I spent my time in work/play/rest. Not enough rest, that's for sure!

How fun are these little puffy diamond stickers?

I got to wear my first "fall" outfit, including a cozy sweater!
