Isle of Palms getaway

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Joe and I had so much fun last year at Myrtle Beach and we wanted to get in a little beach time this year as well. I ended up getting a 4 day weekend so we headed to Folly Beach, South Carolina.

We pulled up to the hotel around 10:15 that night. Long story short - the hotel wasn't AT ALL how it was pictured online!! A nearby beach, Isle of Palms, was recommended to us so we found a Hampton Inn near there for the night. The next day we got up and went to Isle of Palms, found a realty place, and rented an adorable beachfront condo for the weekend.

Before check in time at the condo, we went to Charleston. When the heat index is 108, you find indoor activities!! Lunch was at a great Caribbean restaurant called Fuel (no AC here, but plenty of fans), then we went to the South Carolina Aquarium. When we entered the parking garage, the clearance sign was 7'6" but as we went up, it changed to 7'!! Joe's truck was a tight fit.

The condo had these fun bunk beds in the hall! We couldn't resist taking a pic.

We ate at fun little restaurants like The Sea Biscuit Cafe, Charleston's Cafe, Coconut Joe's Beach Grill, Banana Cabana, Luke 'n Ollie's Pizzeria, and the Long Island Cafe.

Joe fished on the private pier and I took pics :)

Me and the sun don't get along so Joe made us an awesome shelter with our Sport-brella and beach chairs.

We got up to watch the sun rise 2 mornings. So beautiful!

This was a great weekend getaway and we can't wait to go back!

April Project Life

Monday, June 27, 2016

I went back to one of my favorite kits of all time for April's layout - Jade! I just love the colors in this kit and they worked well with my pictures.

That "not all who wander are lost" card is from the Adventure core kit, and the coffee and library card ones are just random cards I had in my stash. I got a new library card, we went on our first camping trip of the year, and I celebrated National Sibling Day by posting a pic of me and my brother Tommy.

That birthday card is from a MAMBI kit, but all others are from Jade. I finally found those cute little planner stamps at Michael's, Joe and I rediscovered that carrots + hummus is a great snack, and we celebrated my birthday! I turned 35. My parents got me some beautiful new table decor and hubby got me an iPad Pro. We ate at Steak n Shake on my birthday and I got a milkshake :)

What's one of your favorite older PL kits?

March Project Life

Monday, June 20, 2016

I used the Seasons core kit for my March PL spread. I recently got a friend into using Project Life to scrapbook their daughter (she's 9 months) and we split the Seasons core kit.

This kit covers the whole year, and I mixed lots of seasonal cards. This first page has cards from spring and back to school time. I subbed at Elizabethton Yoga, started Curvy Yoga certification, and we dyed Easter eggs.

The second page has more St Patrick's Day, spring, summer, and back to school cards. The colors go together well enough for me and definitely kept it interesting. I started my Etsy shop (go favorite it so you can keep up with updates!), unexpectedly saw my dad while getting an oil change, had an essential oil vendor booth, and enjoyed flowers.

I made an insert about our trip to Gatlinburg to celebrate our 5th anniversary. I used spring and Valentine's Day cards. We ate at a steakhouse, The Peddler, and enjoyed the day walking around and shopping.

Have you used the Seasons core kit?

Grand Canyon layout

Friday, June 17, 2016

Have I mentioned that I've always wanted to see the Grand Canyon? Going to the West Rim was the highlight of our Vegas trip for me.

I used Basic Grey's Persimmon line for this layout. Although it's a fall and Halloween line, the colors and patterns were perfect for documenting our trip!

I got a pack of Persimmon banners at Tuesday Morning a while ago and this is the first time I've used one. The chipboard road sign is from Crate Paper Journey.

Have you used a holiday line for a different kind of layout?

SkyJump layout

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

So Joe did something crazy (to me) while we were in Vegas... he did the SkyJump at The Stratosphere! It's a jump from 855 feet (!).

Obviously I stayed at the bottom and waited for him. You'll never catch me bungee jumping or jumping out of a perfectly good plane... unless I was on The Amazing Race and absolutely HAD to... and even then, I don't know!

I included the certificate from the jump and added some 3D embellishments... I like how this cluster of 5 turned out! I've had that "oh snap!" camera for quite a while.

Would you do something like a jump from 855 feet?!

Las Vegas Project Life

Monday, June 13, 2016

I've been MIA in blogland (and scrapbook land for that matter) but I have several posts I'll be sharing over the next couple weeks. First up - Las Vegas Project Life! I already completed February's PL pages, but of course Vegas needed its own spread and a couple of 12x12s.

I kept our bus ticket (we used public transportation because it was so convenient and cheap), our room key, and show tickets to use in my PL spread.

I documented the view room our room, the Bellagio garden, and part of our winnings (losings really haha). The back of this insert faces a 12x12 of something Joe did in Vegas... come back on Wednesday to see it :)

This page is beside a 12x12 of the Grand canyon that I'll show next week. I used Basic Grey's Persimmon collection for this spread. We went into as many hotels as possible to see what they looked like - I listed them all on a journaling card. We had a lot of good meals in Vegas but I just listed 5 of them.

I appreciate you reading my blog today! It's hard to fit blogging and crafting in sometimes, but I enjoy both. I must figure out how to make time for both!

April Book Report

Monday, May 23, 2016

I read a couple of books in April and one was from my local library! I recently renewed my library card and brought my up Goodreads app to see what I had listed under "Want to Read". I found a couple of books and grabbed them. I only got through one before we left for Disney, so I returned the second - but I'll get it again!

First up was We Never Asked for Wings by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. It's about a Mexican family that lives in California. The grandparents return to Mexico and the mom has to step up and be a real mom for the first time in her life. The story follows the kids and is a coming-of-age story. It was great!

I also started reading The Flip Flop CEO by Janine Finney and others. I recently started using (and quickly selling!) Rodman and Fields skincare. This book is about a mother and daughter's journey in direct sales and is pretty entertaining!

I've already started a couple more books in May and am loving them!
