A Little Vacation

Sunday, March 10, 2013

By the time you're reading this... I'll be in Jamaica, celebrating our two-year wedding anniversary! I'll be taking a little break here on the blog for the next week. Try not to miss me too much! This was our view last year when we rented a cabana for the day at The Jewel in Ocho Rios:

This year we're going to Sandals Negril. I'll be back next week with some pictures for you. See you when we get back!

30 Days of Lists - March 4-8, 2013

Friday, March 8, 2013

Here's another installment of my 30 Days of Lists book. I'm using the new mini Play SMASHbook by K&Co. I am loving this project so much! I'm using a long notepad to keep up with my lists each day. When I get some free time, I'm making a few pages at a time.

Day 4: On an average day -
I actually decided to make 2 lists since my days at work and my days off are so different. I used a day planner page for my work day since everything happens on a schedule. I used a pretty pink Martha Stewart sticky note for my off days because I get to do fun things on those days.

My day at work:

My day off:

Day 5: Things I would like to do by the end of this month:
I love that this list ended up being on this page - the pattern on the left side reminds me of post-it notes.

Day 6: My Talents:

Day 7: In My Bag

Day 8: Comfort foods -
the "make believe" saying on this page had me stuck for a while... but then I added "there's no calories" below it and it made sense. :)

All About Me Smashbook: Favorite Things

Friday, March 8, 2013

Here's a few more pages in my black All About Me smashbook. All of the pictures are 2"x2" instagrams. Enjoy!

I love cute little owls. I went around the house and took pictures of a few of them (and realized how many I had!!!). I made a grid out of washi tape and used chipboard letters to spell out 'owl'. On the right side, I cut the owl on the branch from a piece of scrapbook paper. Cute huh?

Another thing I love is purses and bags! I made a page with a few of my favorite purses. I found a couple of tags from purses and added those. The fun banner is made out of washi tape. I tore the K&Co "need it want it love it" washi tape and scattered it around the page.

A third thing I love is getting manicures and pedicures. My mom treated me to a manicure at Austin Springs spa for my wedding, and I have been hooked ever since! I added a picture of us from that day.

I want to do more pages in this smashbook - on my to-do list are guilty pleasures, my iphone and favorite apps, what the letters of my name stands for, and 100 things I love.

Project Life Week 7

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Week 7 was full of Valentine's Day love - so much love that I got to use my first insert of the year! I was feeling lovey-dovey so I used several 3x4 filler cards and quotes cards.

This week, Joe and his dad found some baby fox squirrels in a tree they were cutting. They relocated them as best they could. Joe and I sent out to eat at Outback for the first time in over a year - the place has really changed! My cousin was our waiter, and it was good to see him. I finished up a couple of Valentine crafts this week. Mom and I went craft shopping on Saturday.

Full week without insert:

Left Side:

Other than Valentine's Day, this was a pretty average week. I used a weekly planner type journaling card from Michael's to document our "normal" week.

Right Side: I got a set of page protectors at Target. It's similar to Design A from Becky Higgins, but has 3 squares in the middle instead of the 4 3x4 sections. I stole a coaster from Outback - perfect fit!

Front side of insert: Here I put our Valentine's Day presents to each other and pictures of our cards.

Back side of insert: More Valentines' day stuff. I sent a RAK to some scrapbooking girls, Mom made us some conversation heart cookies, Dora gave us peanut butter cookies and cute cards, and I made Valentine candy bags for my coworkers.

How to Make Horizontal Project Life cards on a Silhouette Cameo

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

I have a couple of pages that have lots of horizontal 3x4 spots (Design B, D). There are TONS of free printable vertical journaling and filler cards out there, but I've been having trouble finding journaling cards to go in these horizontal spots. I opened up the Silhouette Studio software for my Cameo and made a few cards. I don't know if I'm going to use these as print and cuts or just for inspiration - either way, they're a great starting point for me when I'm feeling stuck!

First I drew a rounded rectangle approximately 4"x3" and duplicated it so that there were 12 cards on a page. Then I went through my files and picked elements to add to each card.

I need some with quotes, so I added a few of those. I plan on looking through my "words to live by" board on Pinterest and getting more quotes.

Then came the fun part - adding color! You could make each card look so different, just with your color choices.

You can add color to the letters themselves or to the background. Either way looks great.

Hope this was inspiring for you! I love these cards so much that I may make some vertical 3x4 cards too!

Project Life Week 6

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Week 6 was very eventful. Again, I had no problem filling up the spots. The biggest thing to happen was my pharmacy getting robbed on Thursday afternoon. It's the first time I've been robbed as a pharmacist, and I hope it will be my last! The police did arrest the guy and he is awaiting trial.

Anyways, on to the less traumatic events of the week! My father-in-law had minor knee surgery to repair some torn cartilage, The Walking Dead season 5 premiered, I got cute little hearts on my nails for Valentine's Day, I made a Martha Stewart recipe for a tortilla and black bean pie (so good!), Joe and I had a really yummy dessert at Longhorn, and I had my monthly lunch date with a friend. We also went to Gatlinburg on Saturday for an early Valentine's Day. We walked around town all afternoon (and I finally found some boots!!!). Then we went to the Melting Pot for dinner. It was a super fun weekend with my favorite guy ;)

Right Side: This was my first time using Design F and I must say, I love getting that many photos on one page!

The card on the bottom of the right page is a menu of what we ate that night:

Oh, did you want to see a close-up of those boots? Here you go :)

30 Days of Lists - March 1-3, 2013

Sunday, March 3, 2013

Here is the cover of my 30 Lists in 30 Days projects. The front of the mini Play SMASHbook is totally bare, so I could do whatever I wanted. I picked a bunch of little embellishments from my stash and started moving them around until I found a configuration that I liked.

#30lists

So these are my first few lists! I'm really enjoying making them.

Day 1: I am a Lister because...

I made a journaling card out of a 6x6 pad of Amy Tan's original line. I used gray Studio Calico letter stickers and notebook paper letter stickers from October Afternoon. I love the little blue skies and hearts washi tape.

I used some numbers from October Afternoon's 9 to 5 line for my list. Below that, the words are from another sheet of October Afternoon's 9 to 5 line.

Day 2 - About Me
I used some bunting stickers from Simple Stories to cover up some words under "Adventure Awaits". Then I used some Simple Stories letters to spell out 'About Me'. The cute bird at the bottom is from Simple Stories 'Fabulous' line.

#30lists

Day 3: This _____, I am going to ___________________
Here's my to-do list for this week. I'm getting there! I used tons of 'little' and 'tiny type' alphabet stickers to spell out today's list.
