Crate Paper Fa La La

Monday, December 3, 2018

Earlier this year, I made this Christmas page... but since it was in March or so, I didn't share it. Now is a more seasonally appropriate time! I used Crate Paper "Fa La La" collection on this layout.

How cute is this little bird? I cut the big snowflake in half so I could the other half on another layout.

I used a pink Studio Calico Project Life card for my journaling. I just cut it into strips and adhered it to the layout. The color was perfect, but the card was too big for where I wanted the journaling.

Project Life: Weeks 47-52

Friday, February 9, 2018

I'm caught up and finished with Project Life 2017. I ordered my 12x12 prints through Persnickety Prints and put them in my album.  I love this method!

We decided that our Christmas present to each other would be a trip to Disney and Universal (gotta get our money's worth on those annual passes!) so we left on Black Friday and spent a few days in Orlando. I like to do these quick trip recap pages and then make 12x12's about some photos.

Since I do December Daily, my December pages are a bit of a repeat, but they're super easy to document. I mostly just chose my favorite photos from each week and then popped them into the app. My PL album would feel incomplete if I didn't have pages for December.

I cannot resist some of these older Studio Calico sets that are showing up in the PL App these days... they're only 99 cents! I've always loved that "my brain has too many tabs open" card.

I usually wait until the end of the year to make my cover page, and I *love* this year's page!! I stole this idea from someone in a Facebook group. I chose photos that represented what we did in 2017 - lots of travel and adventures!

Project Life 2017: Weeks 41-46

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Today I've got a few more pages of Project Life 2017 to share with you. I'm so close to being done with 2017! Have I mentioned how much I love this method of memory keeping?

We took a vacation this week and went to Universal Orlando so we could attend Halloween Horror Nights. I have been a scaredy cat about going to this event for years, but I'm actually glad we went now. We had a blast and I would totally go again.

This page will be cut in half and put into a 6"x12" insert with the Universal stuff on the front, and Disney stuff on the back.

Disney recap:

Week 43 has some private journaling that I'm not sharing here on the inter webs. But it's still a pretty page :)

We went camping in Pigeon Forge and saw Dolly Parton at Dollywood!!! WHAT?! This page will be cut in half to make a 6" x 12" insert.

Project Life Weeks 31-40

Wednesday, January 10, 2018

I swear I plan on doing a better job of sharing my Project Life pages more regularly in 2018... but here are weeks 31-40 of Project Life 2017. I've had it done through week 37 for quite a while but recently got motivated to finish up!

I have some tickets from the mirror maze and will adhere them in the bottom left corner when I get this page printed.

I really love this Amy Tangerine kit!

I used the collage feature to make the 2 3" x 4" spots in the left bottom corner. Then you insert it as a photo.

This layout about Dollywood will be cut into a 6" x 12" page and insert between weeks 40 and 41.

October, November, and December Book Report

Thursday, January 4, 2018

I had a goal to read 48 books in 2017 and ended up finishing 42 books. I think 48 was a great goal because it pushed me and encouraged me throughout the year. I had 3 books I was still reading and 1 audiobook but am going to count them towards my 2018 goal of 60 books! 48 would have been doable if I hadn't taken a couple months off from reading. I need a stretch goal and 60 is it.

The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson was a funny little book. I loved all the little coincidences that happened throughout.

This Is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel was so good... It's about a family's journey to figure out a transgender child... they figure out how to let their child be herself while addressing the whole family's well being.

Bear Town by Fredrick Backman was a bit slow to start but I'm glad I stuck with it because it's SO GOOD. It's about hockey - and yet it isn't. Read it.

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas is a YA novel about a teenage girl that is trapped between two worlds and witnesses a fatal shooting. I don't normally read YA novels but this one kept popping up and getting such good reviews. It was great.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeymoon is going to be made into a movie and I can totally see why - it's charming and fun! Eleanor doesn't know that life can and should be more than just "fine" and this story documents how she figures that out. Loved it!

The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict is a book I put on my list quite a while ago and it came up in Overdrive for me to borrow. It was so interesting - I had no idea that Albert Einstein's wife played such a big role in his theories (I'm not sure I even know he was married really).

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan was hard to follow at the beginning - so many names! - but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I have more of his books in the queue on Overdrive.

Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell popped up on my radar and I was able to borrow it quickly. I read it very quickly and although I didn't like the ending (!) it was great.

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng was so, so good!

The Girl with All the Gifts by M.R. Carey was SO CREEPY! Like I didn't want to read it before bed, but I HAD to know what was happening. So weird and so good and I want to read more from this author.

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn is about female spies and it was good and interesting. A bit unbelievable but cool.

China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan is #2 in the Crazy Rich Asians series. It was very fast paced and a quick read.

December Daily Days 16-20

Friday, December 22, 2017

Last year I did this project daily, but I've been doing the pages in batches this year. That allows to make better use of photo paper (less waste!).

Day 16 - we went to Dollywood to look at the lights, see a show, and decorate cookies.

Day 17 - we hung out at the fireplace in the lobby of the Margaritaville Hotel and waited for the shops at The Island to open.

Day 18 - I finally wrapped a few presents!

Day 19 - new job!

Day 20 - fun new Bristol ornament

December Daily Days 11-15

Thursday, December 21, 2017

I'm loving this project and am so glad I decided to do it again this year.

Day 11 is all about mailing Christmas cards and packages. I had a ton to send out to my Rodan+Fields clients, a couple of eBay sales, and my Christmas cards.

I got this transparency really cheap as part of a Black Friday sale. I love it!

Day 12 is about our tree. I made the left page before December (inspired by Ali's Product Play class).

It's a mixture of circles - polka dot felt (I got it on clearance a couple years ago and knew I needed it!), Heidi Swapp embellishments, stamped and embossed circles, and twine/cardstock star circles.

I documented some of our favorite Christmas movies on Day 13.

Day 14 is all about Star Wars.

Day 15 documents all those cute Snapchat filters I love so much. I made the left page before December as part of Ali's Product Play class too.

I'm so glad I took the time to stamp and emboss these circles before December. Otherwise, they never would have made it into this album!
