100 Days Project Days 11-20

Monday, August 28, 2017

I'm back with 10 more days of the 100 Days Project.

Day 11: I was camping and had pretty limited supplies. I just threw a few things in a box and didn't think about what I was going to do with them. I used the Blah Blah Blah stamp from HoneyBee stamps and created this pattern. I will either put this on a card and send it to someone that's going through a rough time or is sick... or I will cut it down and put it into Project Life.

Day 12: I used this stamp I got from the Scrapbook Expo to create this bright and fun floral background. This will probably end up as a card.

Day 13: I made a card for a friend and used the technique from Day 11.

Day 14: I tried some of the wooden block stamps I bought at Michael's earlier this year. I was super disappointed in how unclear the stamped images were... the leaf one is from Studio Calico and it does work well though.

Day 15: I used a technique we learned at the Scrapbook Expo to make these two backgrounds for cards.

Day 16: I used a turnabout stamp from Concord and 9th and LOVE how it turned out!

Day 17: I went through my (12!!) roller stamps and stamped them onto cards and numbered the card and the stamp. I don't use these stamps as often as I used to, but I think by organizing them this way, I'll remember to grab them!

Day 18: I didn't use the exact same colors, but I used distress inks on the left photo, and distress oxides on the right. The oxides are so creamy and they mix really well. I spritzed water on them and let them dry. These may end up as card backgrounds.

Days 19 & 20: I tried to use a triangle turnabout stamp. I need a lot of practice, as this one's really tough to line up. Although i was frustrated with how it went, I kind of like these now...

100 Days Project: Days 1-10

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

I mentioned that I was participating in the Scrap Gals 100 Days Project and I have days 1-10 to show you now. I love how flexible this project is, and that I can spend a lot of time when I'm able to, and do quick things when I'm short on time. I'm posting most (maybe all) things on my Instagram and tagging them #EmilyConquersStampsAndInks

Day 1: I used these cute cactus stamps with Memento Dew Drops ink pads.

Day 2: I used some Ali Edwards stamps to make these simple embellishments for Project Life and other layouts. I used Stazon black ink and then cut them out. I didn't have enough ink on the top 2 stamps the first time, so I reinked and did them a second time.

Day 3: This was Day 1 of Refresh, part of my Simple Scrapper membership. We were challenged to make a card for a loved one in 20 minutes with just the stuff on our desk. I had this colorful background leftover from a class Mom and I took at the Scrapbook Expo... so I grabbed some twin, a tag I've been saving for a long time, a polka dot embellishment a stamp, and 3 enamel dots. Quick and easy and under 20 minutes!

Day 4: I stamped on a layout (I'll show it to you soon)

Day 5: I followed a Jennifer McGuire video to create a two color stamped background.

Day 6: I used distress oxide inks to create these two cards. They're actually watercolor cards from Michael's Recollection brand, but I figured distress inks would work too. They did!

This one got a little muddy - I'll keep practicing the rainbow color blending.

Day 7: I put distress inks on a craft mat, sprayed them with water, heat set it with my embossing gun, and then put a light coat of a distress ink on top. I spritzed that with water and blotted it with a paper towel.

Day 8: I worked on creating a background from a stamp set.

Day 9: I got this "three way roses" stamp at the Scrapbook Expo as part of a class. I tried out a few combinations and hope to use these soon (probably with distress inks?)

Day 10: I don't use rubber stamps very often, so I guess I pressed too hard... someone suggested fussy cutting them out and using them as embellishments though. So smart!

Oh Happy Day Stampin' Up Card Kit

Friday, August 4, 2017

Mom and I recently went to the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo in Duluth, Georgia. We had fun taking a Disney class and an advanced layered background class. Of course we shopped at the Expo and at a local Hobby Lobby and Michael's.

Gorgeous sky one evening.

I ordered the Oh Happy Day card kit and a stamp set from Stampin' Up and it arrived shortly after we returned home. It has everything you need (except for adhesive) to make 20 cards.

I took the kit and some adhesive with me when Joe and I went camping last weekend. I quickly put a few cards together while we were hanging out on a rainy afternoon.

I LOVE THIS KIT, Y'ALL!!

Christmas Cards part 2

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

We used stamps on the rest of our Caring Hearts cards.

This is from an Illustrated Faith stamp set. It's so cute!

I used gold embossing powder and Mom's Spectrum Noir markers to make this card.

I finally used this stamp set and I love it!

Mom created these 2 cards in slightly different color schemes. She used a variety of stamps and I LOVE how the pattern turned out!!

Share Handmade Kindness Challenge 1

Monday, November 2, 2015

Last week, I received a sweet note in the mail from a friend... Instead of sending her a message back on Facebook to thank her, I thought about sending a card instead. Then I read Jennifer McGuire's blog post about her November "Share Handmade Kindess" challenge and I knew I should make that card!

I got out my fall scrapbook supplies and saw this little owl on a piece of Bella Blvd paper from last year I immediately thought it would match Basic Grey's Persimmon collection (my favorite fall collection ever!). It did!

Have you considered joining the Share Handmade Kindness challenge? You can find out more information here. You can share your creations on social media using #sharehandmadekindness or link up week one here.

Sympathy Card

Monday, July 27, 2015

I recently made a sympathy card. It's simple but pretty! I used a few chipboard accents and a sympathy stamp set I got from Studio Calico. So glad I bought that - it's come in handy a couple of times!

Have a great Monday!

Mom's birthday card

Monday, April 13, 2015

I used a new stamp set to make Mom's birthday card. It's the first time I really spent some time playing with my Studio Calico Color Theory stamps. I like them a lot!! I picked 3 stamps and made color swatches in my Repurposed Rolodex. Now when I want to stamp something, I can look at these swatches and know exactly what the colors look like.

Mom's card turned out pretty cute, but definitely not how I planned it. I got a little lost along the way and looked up projects using the stamp set on Studio Calico. I was definitely inspired by one of the example cards and made it work!

Sympathy card

Friday, April 10, 2015

I've really been in a card making mood here lately. I got the "Sympathy" stamp set from Studio Calico a month or two ago. I love the sayings and flowers in this set. I have a friend who's been going through a rough patch and also had a death in the family. I made a little card to let her know I was thinking of and supporting her.

I stamped the flowers and stems with distress inks and painted water on top of them to give it that water color look. That gold crackled washi tape has been sitting on my table for a while - time to put it to good use!

Dad's birthday card

Friday, April 3, 2015

Dad turned 59 last week.  I didn't see him on his actual birthday, but we had dinner at Red Lobster last night. Joe and I gave him an Amazon gift card so he could treat himself to a couple of albums. I also gave him a tape adapter so he can plug his iPhone into the car. It was cheap, but hopefully the audio quality is decent enough!

I made him a card using the same stamp set I used for my friend's birthday cards. I love that brush script look from Kal Barteski. I picked a few star shapes (chipboard and wood veneer) from my stash and used them to decorate the card. The candles are also part of that "Happy Something" stamp set.

Happy Something birthday cards

Monday, March 9, 2015

I got the "Happy Something" stamp set by Kal Barteski when Studio Calico had it up for a sale recently. I love Kal's script font. I have friends celebrating birthdays in the next month or two, so I'm ready! I've never actually made cards in advance (although I've been meaning to forever).

The gold embossing powder is my favorite.

I used Project Life cards to make this project quick and simple.

Have a great Monday!

New Home card

Thursday, February 19, 2015

My brother recently moved so I made a card to send to him. I combined several Studio Calico stamps to make this sentiment. I love how it turned out!

Woodland Baby Card

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

One of my best friends had a baby a couple of weeks ago. His name is Cedar Jackson - cute, huh? His nursery theme is "woodland" and is painted a soft gray. They used teepees, feathers, and great quotes to decorate the room. I made a card and tried to stay in that theme. Here's what I came up with!

I used paper from Studio Calico and Basic Grey. I was so glad I had the right letters to spell out his name - those Thickers are some of my faves!
