Artful Epcot

Monday, March 11, 2019

I made this Disney page for our February trip. It will go in my 2019 weekly album, not my ongoing Disney album.

Paper Issues had a challenge in February called "You Color My World" where we were challenged to use as many colors as possible. found this gorgeous Shimelle Glitter Girl paper and knew it would be perfect for the challenge.

I used some Amy Tangerine ephemera and stickers for a few embellishments.

Valentine Flowers

Thursday, March 7, 2019

I'm back with another scrap lift challenge from Paper Issues. I used it to document the 2 beautiful bouquets of flowers my hubby gave me for Valentine's Day. This page was done in about 30 minutes!

I got a pearly white piece of cardstock for the background, a plain white piece of yardstick for the heart cutout, and one sheet of stickers from Simple Stories Love and Adore line.

I added a few enamel dot hearts and a little journaling strip from my stash.

Valentine Pyrex

Monday, March 4, 2019

I love switching out my Pyrex collection and doing seasonal or colorful displays. I finally have enough pink and red to do a proper Valentine's display. #allthehearteyes

This layout is a scrap lift of a layout I saw in the Paper Issues Facebook group. It's a little busy but I think it turned out pretty.

Except for the background paper, the papers and chipboard stickers are from an older Crate Paper collection called Fourteen. I've hoarded it long enough.

Rise and Shine

Thursday, February 28, 2019

So I'm not going to do Project Life for 2019. I have been into making 12x12 layouts for a while now, and I'm going to document one story per week with a 12x12. Yikes!! I think it will be awesome, but I'll have to stay on top of it because this is already week 8. I've made 4 layouts this week so I'm catching up.

I used Echo Park's "Made from Scratch" collection to make this page about how we spent New Years Day.

We went out for breakfast, shopped a little bit, and watched 2 movies at home. It was great. We don't have many weekdays off to ourselves anymore.

I'm pretty sure this little flair is from an older Feed Your Craft + Brandi Kincaid collaboration.

How are you documenting 2019?

Magical Purple Wall

Monday, February 4, 2019

I absolutely love all the fun Disney walls at Walt Disney World and I make Joe take pics of me in from of them. He's a good #instagramhusband. My favorite wall is probably the purple wall in Magic Kingdom, and I especially love the new galactic section as it fades to white.

I thought this paper from Echo Park's #Selfie collection was perfect for this layout.

I used a few ephemera pieces from Shimelle to make my journaling spot.

Then I added a few more pieces down in the bottom corner. What's your favorite Disney wall?

Crate Paper Fa La La

Monday, December 3, 2018

Earlier this year, I made this Christmas page... but since it was in March or so, I didn't share it. Now is a more seasonally appropriate time! I used Crate Paper "Fa La La" collection on this layout.

How cute is this little bird? I cut the big snowflake in half so I could the other half on another layout.

I used a pink Studio Calico Project Life card for my journaling. I just cut it into strips and adhered it to the layout. The color was perfect, but the card was too big for where I wanted the journaling.

Rose Gold Everything!

Friday, November 9, 2018

In case you didn't know, rose gold is my favorite. Disney has caught on and has all sorts of things rose gold. They've moved on to millennial pink, but I'm still into the rose gold.

Y'all! I made this rose gold Mickey head! I kept some leftover punches from this layout. I just applied VersaMark to the punch, then applied rose gold embossing powder (OMG RIGHT?!) and heated it up.

I've had these white Thickers that you can paint and I wondered if I could heat emboss them... well it turns out you can! But the powder does come off (even after you set it with heat) so don't handle them too much. I had to touch up one of the letters.

3 Amigos

Monday, November 5, 2018

I'm on a Disney scrapbooking kick, so I have a couple more layouts to share. Today's is a funny picture of my husband, dad, and brother wearing those giant sombreros in Epcot's Mexico pavilion. We went as a family in April 2016. My parents and brother hadn't been in about 25 years (!)

Isn't this paper just PERFECT?! It's from Michael's brand Recollection and the collection is called Mexican Fiesta. This sheet had the banners on top and then the bottom of the paper had a brighter pink ombre. I covered up the bottom with part of some fringed paper (same collection).

This is the first (and probably only) time I've used paper flowers on a layout. They're generally not my style but in this case, I thought they matched perfectly!

I even busted out my Silhouette Cameo and cut that title!

Boo to You!

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

We went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party last month and took this photo as soon as we walked into the park.

This Mickey cut file is from a group I'm in over at Disney Scrappers, and the page sketch can be found here.

I used Thickers on vellum for the title (Boo to You is the name of the parade at this event)

Then I used lots of stickers, chipboard pieces, enamel dots, and 3 brads for embellishment.

Asheville Vintage Market Days

Friday, September 7, 2018

My mom and aunt and I went to Asheville's Vintage Market Days and had an awesome day. We looked at Pyrex, antiques, decor, crafts, and more. Then we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant before driving home.

The theme of this particular Vintage Market Days was "A Day at the Farm" so I chose papers that had a farm or vintage sort of theme and color. I actually glued lots of 3x4 papers/Project Life cards onto the mason jar 12x12. You can see the mason jars up in the top right corner. I used red for a little bit of pop.

Ikea or Bust!

Monday, August 27, 2018

I recently changed up a couple of rooms in my house, which gave me a bigger, brighter dedicated craft room. Previously, I had my craft supplies in my old office/craft room but had been outgrowing that space for years. I'll show my new room in a future post.

Mom and I went to the Charlotte Ikea and had an awesome time looking around the showroom and wishing we had good reasons to buy more stuff,

I bought a 5x5 Kallax for any craft supplies. I also got a 2x4 Kallax that I turned on its side to use as a TV stand with lots of storage. We had to put the front passenger seat all the way forward and fold it down a little bit to get the 5x5 Kallax in my small SUV. Mom had to ride behind me on the way home!

I used this fun sunburst paper from the Pink Paislee Oh My Heart collection. I used stickers from that collection along with other stickers from my stash to fill up the space. Love how it turned out!

Do you have a dedicated craft room?

Some People are Worth Melting for

Monday, June 4, 2018

I love this selfie Joe took with Olaf and knew I wanted to title it "Some people are worth melting for"! I made this layout for another Paper Issues challenge (actually a Scraplift Sunday). I substituted the hearts on the original layout for these colorful snowflakes made from this paper by Shimelle.

I used 2 kinds of alphas for the title.

I didn't add anything else to the layout since these snowflakes bring so much color to the page. I just layered a couple of papers under the photo.

Wowza!

Monday, May 28, 2018

When I went over to Mom and Dad's house on Mother's Day, I noticed the most GORGEOUS flowers ever on the back porch.

This layout came from a Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues (I'll link if it goes up on their blog).

The inspiration layout used a white background with stamped words. I didn't have a similar paper, so I used a gold text overlay/transparency sheet on top of white card stock.

Challenges like this and the monochromatic one make me consider storing my embellishments by color. I don't now, but it would make it faster! I kind of enjoy the hunt, though.

Have you ever seen a prettier plant?

Thursday, May 24, 2018

I spent some time working on some Paper Issues challenges recently and made this layout about violet lemonade at Epcot's Flower & Garden festival. SO GOOD!! I missed it last year but am glad I tried it this year.

I submitted this layout for the monochromatic (plus black and white) challenge. I love how it turned out! I chose yellow because of the yellow flower in the background of the photo, and then realized it made the color of the lemonade pop even more!

It was fun to look through my stash and find yellow papers and embellishments.

And I finally used some black Thickers I've been hoarding!

Artful Epcot

Thursday, March 8, 2018

We were able to attend the Festival of the Arts at Epcot this February and it was nice! I think it's the second year of the festival, but we missed it last year. One activity we participated in was painting the weekly mural at the entrance to the World Showcase in Epcot.

I love these cute pom pom frames from the Crate Paper "Good Vibes" collection.

I was happy to be able to use these Thickers - I'm at a critical low on this font!

These embellishments (and the background paper) are from My Mind's Eye "Jubilee" collection.

This journaling spot is from Heidi Swapp's Favorite Things Project Life kit.
