So week 35 has been a bit difficult to do. This was the week we lost our 15-year-old pup, Harley. I can't really decide how I want to document it. Obviously it's a HUGE event. For now, I settled on a few cards on the left side. I think I will add an insert later.
Full spread:
Left side: Just a few words about Harley.
I used gold Color Shine on this black and white card to give it a bit of color.
Right side: Being silly with Dad at Hobby Lobby, signs of fall, and a friend's wedding.
I used a 4x6 bifold card to tell the story of hanging out with my parents later in the week.
How have you documented the loss of a favorite pet?
I love reading each and every comment! Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram, Pinterest, and
Love the warm tones of your pages, Emily and I think an insert about your sweet pup will be perfect to record some special memories! xoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks, Elise!
DeleteOh, I am so sorry. We lost both our old pups (almost 12 and almost 14) earlier this year and it was heartbreaking. I had one 4x6 card in each spread for journaling but I'm also planning to do a PL mini-album of their lives with us and want to get to it soon so hubby and I can get all those stories written down. Hugs to you and your family. It is so hard.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I can't imagine. I made a photo book a couple years ago and had copies made for me, my parents, and my brother. I want to do something (mini book? PL insert? traditional 12x12?) to record her nicknames, funny quirks, great stories, etc. Thanks for the kind words.
DeleteSo sorry Emily, we maybe soon facing the same with our oldest he hasn't been well but continues to hang on. I would include an insert or a scrapbook page about him. So of your thoughts and feelings with a few of your favorite pictures through the years ( I have one special one picture that I'm saving for that special page.) Let your heart guide you through it when it is time to do it. Might be just a bit emotional at the moment for you.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely emotional for me, Tina. It's so hard even when you know the day is coming. Sorry to hear about Jake.
DeleteI am so sorry Emily <3 It's never easy to lose a loved one, including the furry ones. I don't do PL, but I have created pages including our sweet pooch Fletch that passed away last year. I wrote a blog post about him (http://clickychickcreates.com/2013/04/19/best-pooch-ever/), and still need to get all of those emotions onto a page! I have an incomplete layout about my daughter and Fletchie, and just asked my daughter a couple weeks ago what she misses most about him so I can include that on the layout - I'm planning to include list journaling. Thanks for the reminder and nudge to get it done! Hugs to you! xoxo
ReplyDeleteConnie, your blog post moved me to tears. So sweet and heartfelt. Glad I could get you thinking about finishing your layout. Thank you!!
