Essential Oils for Travel

Monday, April 25, 2016

Since I'm at Disney, it seems like a great time to show you which essential oils I take with me when we're traveling. When will the TSA recognize these as medications and not make them count towards my liquids limit??

The bare minimum includes:
  • Deep Relief - you can roll it on your neck if it gets sore from sleeping on a new pillow or on a plane, your shoulders for tension, or your legs after a long day of sightseeing.
  • Sleep Combo - I have a hard time sleeping in unfamiliar places (especially if we can't get a fan to stay on all night and generate a little white noise!) Lavender and Cedarwood are my go to for sleep. I apply this to my wrists and behind my ears and I'm having sweet dreams in no time.
  • Breathe Again - this mix is great for when you're feeling a little congested or the air is dry and you need some relief. I put it behind my ears.
  • Allergy Trio - this mix of Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint helps alleviate runny nose, watery eyes, and that annoying little cough you get when allergies are bugging you. I apply it behind my ears and on my wrists.
  • Thieves Hand Purifier - my personal choice for hand sanitizer!

I upped my game here recently and bought this awesome customizable essential bag on Etsy. It holds 8 bottles for me and even has room in the bottom for small things like chapstick or that Thieves hand sanitizer. The elastic bands hold everything in place so they don't roll around in the bottom of my purse.

Do you take essential oils with you when you're traveling? Which ones can you not leave home without?

Book Report Layout

Monday, April 18, 2016

I read 24 books in 2015 and have been waiting to do a layout all year!

I used some Project Life cards and scrap 6x6 papers to create a layered look behind my journaling card. And you now I had to use my favorite gold Thickers.

These labels are from a 2014 (?) Studio Calico kit and as soon as I saw them, I know they were destined for this layout.

I wrote out all the books I read on each label and then adhered them all over the bottom half of the page.

I found some Studio Calico and Heidi Swapp chipboard embellishments to fill up little spots.

Have you ever documented your reading list?

February Project Life Part 1

Monday, April 11, 2016

February's Project Life is going to be in 2 parts - one is the daily stuff in February and part 2 will be our trip to Las Vegas. I know that will be at least a full spread and maybe a couple of 12x12s! We shall see!

I used a mix of Studio Calico kits to make these pages. I even used the back of a couple of cards from January's pages.

I just love this sticker!

I used insert F for this page - lots of 3x4 cards are so fun!

I got some of Amy Tangerine's letter stickers and the green coordinated perfectly with this spread. "50" stands for Super Bowl 50 since I don't have any football embellishments.

This card is from last June's Studio Calico kit. I think it was for Father's Day (D is for Dad) but I reworked that a little bit :)

March Book Report

Thursday, April 7, 2016

I'm making some progress towards my goal of reading 30 books in 2016!

First up was Among The Ten Thousand Things by Julia Pierpont. It is her debut novel and it's about a family falling apart in New York. It was a good book, but maybe not quite as riveting as the reviews made it out to be ;)

Next I started How To Be Here: Creating a Life Worth Living by Rob Bell. Rob is a preacher that has a podcast (The Robcast) and he is AMAZING to listen to. His book is written much like how he speaks on the podcast. I'm taking this book slow and trying to think about the chapters instead of finishing them quickly.

On March 31 (hey, it counts!) I started The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney. It's the kind of book I love - lots of characters and how their lives are woven together. So far, so good!

January Project Life

Monday, April 4, 2016

I got motivated and started Project Life :) I love this style of memory keeping! In 2015 I did a mix of monthly spreads and 12x12's. I'm sticking with that style again for 2016.

I bought a few Documenter kits from Studio Calico when they were on sale. I got the January 2016 kit and used it for this month. I added in just a couple of cards from past kits to complete the spread.

Had to include my One Little Word, even though I'm not participating in Ali's class this year. I never seem to keep up with the mini album I started for my OLW. This year I have a little journal I'm writing entries in (1 or 2 entries per month).

These little day of the week embellishments were included in the kit and I tried hard to use them all up.

Found this little mushroom wood veneer and it's the perfect embellishment for journaling about finding a little fairy door on a tree when we were hiking.

I cut apart a 12x12 pocket page to create this insert about 2 trips we took this month.

Weekend trip to Gatlinburg:

Are you doing Project Life this year? Which format?
