Project Life Weeks 46 & 47

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Here are weeks 46 & 47. Now I remember how hard it is to use those Design E pages... especially the back! I ended up using pages from Studio Calico's "Wanderlust" 6x6 paper pad to create backgrounds for the 4 pockets on the left.

Full spread:

Left side: chicken noodle soup for Joe, our trip to Margaritaville in Pigeon Forge.

Right side: we went to the movies, Mom and I made our Christmas cards for the card drive, and more of our trip to Margaritaville.

I like these little blue labels from a past Studio Calico PL kit.

Have a happy New Year!

Around here

Monday, December 22, 2014

Today is my 250th (!) blog post. Who knew it would grow into that! My actual blogiversary isn't for about 3 more weeks.

I am flying to Indianapolis today, then taking a van to Purdue University. My brother is driving from West Point, VA and he's accepted a post-doc there. We are on a whirlwind trip to try to find him a place to live. It should be great fun. Haven't gone on a road trip with Tommy (maybe ever?). And there's nothing like driving home on Christmas Eve.

It will be our first Christmas without this baby. She loved to rip the papers off our presents for us.

I've officially signed up to become a yoga teaacher (RYT-200) through Bristol Yoga. The course will last from March - August and I am TOTALLY excited!

Joe and I attended our first Ugly Christmas Sweater Party and had so much fun! He even agreed to be twins. #twinning!

I spruced up my Christmas ornament wreath with the perfect $2 bow from Big Lots. Score!

I tried to remember everyone on my Christmas list (I always forget someone)

We were able to stay warm at Dollywood. Lots of layering! And adorable fuzzy hats help tremendously.

We had milkshakes at Steak 'n Shake. Yum!

I found the cutest pajama pants at Jockey recently.

And I made one more handmade card for a good friend.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and I will see you back here next week. Hope your celebration is all that you want it to be.

Christmas ornament wreath

Thursday, December 18, 2014

I just wanted to share my Christmas wreath with you... It's hanging on my fireplace and I absolutely love it!

My mom and I made this a few years ago. We got a simple wreath (we used green, but a silver or other fun color would look good too) at a craft store. Then I dug through my ornament hoard stash and picked some duplicates out. We then hot glued the ornaments to the wreath. Done!

At the time, I only had 2 vintage plastic ornaments. We popped them in half and stuck them in 4 places around the wreath. I just got this big bow at Big Lots for $2 and added it to the wreath this year. Perfection!

Have you made a Christmas wreath for your fireplace or front door?

Project Life Week 45

Monday, December 15, 2014

We're switching gears and going back to fall today... this is my week 45 Project Life spread.

Full Spread:

Left side: new haircut, running errands with Joe, a Pinterest party

I colored this button with a bright orange marker and then rubbed it in and wiped off the excess... it was a strange yellow color that didn't go with the colors in my spread.

I'm pretty sure this card was from last year's November Chic Tags kit. I added some small Basic Grey Persimmon feathers.

Right side: I created my own 3x3 squares with small photos and cut parts from October Afternoon and other papers. I taped the cards onto 6x6 papers and used a Design E page protector.

I added small leaves from Basic Grey on this card.

This gold paper was a leftover embossed scrap I had laying on my desk.

I cut down a 3x4 card from Shimelle's "Lovely" PL mini kit for this card.

Have a great day!

Vintage Christmas cards

Thursday, December 11, 2014

I recently participated in a vintage Christmas Project Life card swap. I dug into my October Afternoon hoard stash and parted with some of my goodies. I love how they turned out!! They're all so sweet.

I cut 8x8 papers into 3x4 cards and added gold polka dot washi, twine, and cutouts from another 8x8 page. Chipboard shapes and stickers were the perfect finishing touches.

Perhaps the most amazing thing about these cards is that I tied 8 tiny little bows out of twine. I'm impressed with myself... I usually can't tie them correctly and give up!

Are you able to use your October Afternoon stash?

Project Life Weeks 43 and 44

Monday, December 8, 2014

I decided to go a little brighter for weeks 43 & 44. I mostly used PL cards from My Mind's Eye "Jubilee", Heidi Swapp's "Favorite Things" and embellishments from Freckled Fawn.

Full spread:

Left side: yoga, fall to winter overnight, the return of the electric blanket, and hanging out with my dad.

I love these clear overlay stickers.

Right side: dressing up as Duck Dynasty for a Halloween event, a girl's day out, and hanging out with Joe.

How cute is this little felt doily and plastic house?

And I love these heart stickers!

Fabric Strip Christmas Tree

Thursday, December 4, 2014

I attended my first "Pinterest party" last month at a sweet little local shop called Redeemables. We made a fabric strip Christmas tree. I would never have made it on my own, but I LOVE how it turned out!

Can we talk about the shop's name first? There's a sign at the checkout counter that defines "redeem" and it's awesome. The store brings new life to old items. They also have some new items, but most have been found and redeemed.

The displays around the store are amazing.

So for our craft, we picked coordinating fabrics, ripped them into strips, and tied them to a leather cord. We hot glued that cord to the burlap back piece and added a topper to the tree. I trimmed up the edges of my tree when I got home. Simple and adorable!

All 3 of our trees turned out different!

I stole this photo from Facebook. There were so many of us there that we had to take 2 pictures!

Have you ever made a Christmas related pin?

Project Life Weeks 41 and 42

Sunday, November 30, 2014

I used some Studio Calico goodies to document weeks 41 & 42 in my Project Life. I had a few things leftover from last month's The Underground kit and it mixed nicely with the Walden PL kit that just came out.

Left side: I used my fall card from a recent swap, I made chili on a cold night, and we went to Boone, NC for the day.

I liked using up some of those diamond shaped puffy stickers from The Underground PL kit. They're too cute.

And these rub-ons are awesome. I have a love/hate relationship with rub-ons. I don't like when I mess them up and don't get every bit transferred... but I must say, the ones from Studio Calico have pretty much swayed me to use them more often.

Right side: fun at Target, a gorgeous sunset in Knoxville, getting our flu shots, a leak in the living room ceiling (!), and rearranging a pharmacy.

Can I just tell you how much I love this stamp from the Baker Bridge add-on? L-O-V-E.

I hope you and your friends & family have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow!
