May June and July Book Report

Thursday, August 30, 2018

I've fallen a little behind on my goal of 60 books this year... but anything can happen, right?

First up was Modern Lovers by Emma Straub. It was a quick and easy beach sort of read.

Ya'll know I'm obsessed with WWII books and I totally loved We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter. When I read these books, I constantly ask myself if I would be able to endure this and if I would be strong enough.... I really don't know.

I needed to read a lighter book after such a heavy one, so I read This Is Your Life, Harriet Chance! by Jonathan Evison - it was so cute! And my jaw dropped a couple of times when a bombshell dropped. I think this was a free Amazon First read.

I listened (on Audible) to Finish: Give Yourself the Gift of Done by Jon Acuff. Good stuff. My biggest takeaways were reframing your goals - what if you extended the timeline? Or cut your goal in half?

I borrowed The Blinds by Adam Sternberg and it was really cool. It's about a community made up of criminals who have been given a second chance.

Next up was The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin. SO GOOD!! It's about 4 siblings whose lives were impacted by a fortune teller's prophecy. I couldn't put it down.

I listened (on Audible) to The Obesity Code by Jason Fung. I'll admit, this one took a while. It's very scientific and a bit boring at times - but packed with good info.

Then I read An American Marriage by Tayari Jones. Wow! I can't imagine this happening to me when I first got married.

What's the best book you read this summer?

Ikea or Bust!

Monday, August 27, 2018

I recently changed up a couple of rooms in my house, which gave me a bigger, brighter dedicated craft room. Previously, I had my craft supplies in my old office/craft room but had been outgrowing that space for years. I'll show my new room in a future post.

Mom and I went to the Charlotte Ikea and had an awesome time looking around the showroom and wishing we had good reasons to buy more stuff,

I bought a 5x5 Kallax for any craft supplies. I also got a 2x4 Kallax that I turned on its side to use as a TV stand with lots of storage. We had to put the front passenger seat all the way forward and fold it down a little bit to get the 5x5 Kallax in my small SUV. Mom had to ride behind me on the way home!

I used this fun sunburst paper from the Pink Paislee Oh My Heart collection. I used stickers from that collection along with other stickers from my stash to fill up the space. Love how it turned out!

Do you have a dedicated craft room?

Project Life App 2018: Weeks 19-22

Friday, August 24, 2018

There's nothing like a good old fashioned Project Life update. We all start out so strong at the beginning of the year... but then life happens and before you know it, it's been 2 months since you did a layout.

I still love doing a one page layout for each week in the Project Life App.

I mix and match cards from multiple kits just like I did when I was doing physical Project Life.

It's so easy to go through and add my photos, then cards, then journaling.

Is Anybody Out There?

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Hey! Long time, no see. Again!

So in the past week, a couple of bloggers I follow posted opposite things n their blogs... one announced she was officially moving on from the blog, and the other said she thought it was time to begin again with her blog.

I go through spurts (ok, maybe the last 2-3 years) where I wonder if I should bother with this blog anymore. I do like it. But it can be quite a bit of work to promote it and get eyes on it. Yes, there are tools to help but this isn't a money thing for me, so I don't want to pay for some of those options.

I like having all of my projects in one place instead of having to scroll through Instagram to find them. I miss following so many craft blogs... it was easier to pin their posts for inspiration on Pinterest instead of saving it on Instagram. I don't really remember to go look at my Instagram collections.

I go back and forth all the time and often realize it's been a couple months since I posted anything. So if only for my own personal interest, I'll continue sharing here and pinning on Instagram.

What are your thoughts?
