Carnival Liberty cruise

Monday, April 6, 2015

Joe and I recently celebrated our 4th anniversary! We decided to skip Jamaica this year and do something new - a cruise! We had a great time, but I was glad to be on land after a week. :)

We drove to Port Canaveral, Florida on Saturday and spent the night at a local hotel. We went to Walmart on Sunday morning and got a few drinks and other things (we're chronic over packers). We got on the ship around noon.

We went to the Bahamas on Monday. We took a tour through town, stopped to sample some rum cake, stopped by Atlantis (I've wanted to go there for YEARS - hope to go back and stay one day), went to a rum distillery, and went to the Straw Market.

We had an "at sea" day on Tuesday. We explored the ship, watched the sun set, got dressed up for dinner, and had a drink at a cool bar called "Alchemy" - pharmacy themed, so perfect for me!

We went to St. Thomas in the USVI on Wednesday. We took an excursion to Magen's Bay. It was pretty, but it was a little cool and rainy. The sun finally came out and we got in the water for a minute. We grabbed a bite to eat, then went "shopping" which in the Caribbean, means looking at jewelry stores. We've bought some jewelry on prior trips and didn't feel like looking this time. We found a cafe with free wifi (civilization!!) and had a drink and enjoyed wifi for 30 minutes.

Oh, and then we went yacht shopping. Just kidding. We can't afford a yacht.

Thursday was our anniversary. We spent time walking around San Juan, Puerto Rico, sampling the best pina colada ever, made mojitos and other rum drinks, and then took a salsa dancing lesson. Pretty much an awesome day!! We had dinner at the Diamond Steakhouse on the ship.

On Friday, we were supposed to go power snorkeling at Grand Turk. Unfortunately, it was super windy that day and it wasn't safe for us to stop there. BOO!! But maybe it was a blessing in disguise - I ended up being sick and had a migraine that day. I don't know if I could have gone snorkeling anyways. We stayed in the room almost all day.

On Saturday we took a tour called "Behind the Fun" and toured the ship. We went backstage at the main stage, went to the laundry room, the kitchen galley, went by the morgue and jail (did you know cruise ships had those?! I didn't!), and saw where the crew lived. It was a really neat tour.

We ended our trip by going to Tampa to Busch Gardens and then driving home the next day. I had one day to do laundry and get our lives back in order before going back to work. It was a whirlwind 10 days!

I love reading each and every comment! Be sure to keep up with me on Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook!

    1. We did, Tina. I'm hoping to use this post as an outline for all the things I want to scrapbook about the trip.

  3. Love the Alchemy bar! And yes, I knew that cruise ships had morgues (I've wondered what it would be like to work as a nurse on a cruise ship!), but I didn't know about the jail!
