More April Project Life pages

Thursday, May 28, 2015

Last week, I showed you the first two pages of my April Project Life spreads. Here are the last 2!

First up is a page about the two Yoga Teacher Training weekends I attended during April. The card with the little girl on it is from a yoga PL card swap I did last year. I finally found the perfect time to use it! I've lost a few pounds since starting yoga and bought some smaller clothes recently (woohoo!)

The next page is about mine and Joe's "Thursday Date Day" that we're doing. I am so busy with work and yoga that we haven't been able to go anywhere or do much on weekends recently. I'm off every other Thursday so he's taking those days off and we're doing stuff together. We went to Biltmore House in Asheville to see the Downton Abbey clothing exhibit and the gardens. It was a gorgeous day!

Have you been to Biltmore House?

Come Sail Away

Monday, May 25, 2015

Have you tried any of the classes over on Big Picture Classes? I started watching videos from Paige Evans' class (Paige's Pages 2) and was inspired to make a cruise layout using the monochromatic layout lesson. Joe and I went on an Eastern Caribbean cruise in June and this layout will be included in my 2015 album (it's a combination of layouts and Project Life spreads). We took this selfie as we were sailing away from the dock.

I pulled out all the blue embellishments from Basic Grey's "Adrift" collection and started placing them around on the page. I cut out stickers with the backs still attached so I could move everything around to get it just right.

I then added some sequins and enamel dots to complete the layout. I really like how it turned out! I could have maybe put a blue paper across the 12x12 - but I loved that rope paper and wanted to use it.

Have you ever made a monochromatic layout?

April Project Life Pages

Thursday, May 21, 2015

I ended up with 4 Project Life pages for April. I'm going to share 2 here (it's a 2 page spread), and then I'll be ready to show you the last 2 pages next week. I mostly used the Studio Calico Lisse Street Project Life kit. Here is the full spread:

Left side:
my Studio Calico April scratch off cart, African violets from a coworkers, Apple watches!, a (tame) April Fool's Day joke from Joe, reading, my parent's new dog, and honeydew! It's my current favorite fruit.

Right side:
Our first (of many) Thursday Day Dates. My schedule has been crazy around here lately with yoga and work. I usually have every other Thursday off, so Joe is taking that day off work so we can go do stuff together! It's critical for us to make time for each other. Our first #ThursdayDateDay was a trip to Dollywood. We also celebrated mine and my mom's days and Easter during April. Full month!

Yoga Pose Challenge

Thursday, May 14, 2015

The yoga studio where I'm doing teacher training recently had a 7-day yoga challenge. I made a page to go in my Project Life to document each pose. We used the hashtag #bristolYOGISeverywhere on Instagram and Facebook.

I kept it simple and used my favorite alphas - October Afternoon Mini Market alphas - to document the name of each pose. It will be neat to look back in a few months/years and see how my form has improved.

Do you do yoga?

My first Disney layout

Monday, May 11, 2015

Hello! So while Tracie and I were talking on the Magical Memory Keepers podcast, she suggested that we each commit to making a scrapbook page about Disney within the next couple weeks. I agreed and made my page recently. I chose to scrap the first picture of us that was taken right in front of Cinderella Castle. I figured the Simple Stories "Say Cheese" collection was the perfect collection to start with.

Mine and Joe's first trip to Disney World together was a one-day trip to the Magic Kingdom. We spent most of the week at Universal Studios but just had to pop on over to MK one day. It was an incredible day.

Unfortunately, I don't have a ton of incredible pictures from this particular day. I mean I might have like 5 or 6 usable pictures... and some are blurry. (Thank God for iPhone cameras now!!) Anyways, I'm embracing the blurriness because that's real and that's what happened and I can't fix it. The stories are still there.

Do you scrapbook blurry pictures?

Project Life March 2015

Thursday, May 7, 2015

Mom and I got together this past Monday to do some scrapbooking... and I made some pages for March! I've been so busy with yoga and homework that I have gotten behind on Project Life. I plan on doing some more pages to document our cruise and I'll share those another time.

Full spread:

Left side: some of my current notebooks, the first weekend of Yoga Teacher Training, some watercolors I got at Michael's, and getting Joe's jackets and bowties for our cruise.

Right side: Michael's grand opening, books I read this book, a spring day, and one of the most beautiful sunsets ever.

I used colored pencils to color in parts of this card from the new(ish) High Five Project Life set.

How are you doing with Project Life?

26 - a book based on a true story

At the end of March, I started yoga teacher training. It's a lot more involved than you might think! We're going to be in class for about 230 hours over 9 weekends. We have homework and (of course) yoga classes to attend outside of our weekends. I've started a lot of books about yoga but haven't finished any this month!

I am reading one book that I hope will help me be smarter and more efficient (therefore satisfying book #17) - The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You by Jessica Turner. You may be familiar with Jessica if you ever participated in her Project Life Tuesdays over at The Mom Creative website. This book is about maximizing the time you have and taking care of yourself.

The second book this month is Happy Healthy Sexy: Ayruveda Wisdom for the Modern Woman by Katie Silcox and satisfies book #5 (a book published this year). Katie was our teacher for the second yoga teacher training weekend. She led a workshop all about connecting to your Inner Mama and doing what's best for your soul. I didn't know what to expect going into that weekend, but it was AMAZING. She taught bits and pieces from the book, so I bought it during the weekend. There are tips about diet, yoga, mindfulness, and the ancient science of Ayurveda. Cool stuff, people.

What are you reading lately? Once I finish the Fringe Hours book and learn how to use my time more efficiently, I'll need more book recommendations!!  :)
