Pocket Letters

Monday, March 16, 2015

I have more pocket letters to share today. These things are addictive!

I made this one using Studio Calico papers.  I stamped some Ali Edwards words, included a bookmark, and some kitty stickers. I stitched that ampersand using a We R Memory Keepers stencil I bought a few months ago.

I used the 5th & Frolic 6x6 paper pad. I like the colors in this collection!

Basic Grey has always been one of my favorite manufacturers. I love how this pocket letter made of their Soleil line

I picked up a paper pad called "Just Splendid" by My Mind's Eye at Michael's the other day. I love all the patterns in this collection!!

Notebooks

Thursday, March 12, 2015

So how many notebooks is normal for a person to use? I used to hoard cute paper pads and notebooks, but started actually using them over the past few years. And when I fill them up, I get to buy new ones! Sounds like a win win situation. Here are some of my most used notebooks at the moment:

Top Row:
1. blue ikat - Had to have it when I saw it at Target. I'm currently using it for work notes.
2. This purple "Do What You Love" notebook is my current favorite. I got it at Barnes & Noble and it's being used for crafting ideas. It's a big, fat notebook.
3. I'm using this one as a yoga journal. For teacher training, I'm required to keep a journal of my daily yoga practice. This book is nice because the pages lay pretty flat when I open it (no spiral to get in my way!) and it closes with an elastic band.

Bottom Row:
4. I bought an 18-month Erin Condren planner last year and it's so pretty! I still use Google Calender to really keep up with my appointments and things... but I also like to physically write things down! I'm not decorating my planner but I do like to see some of the pages people do.
5. This is a cheap little $1 notebook from Michael's. I carry it in my purse and it's just a catchall.
6. I use this Martha Stewart notebook to keep up with things for Project Life. If I have tidbits or photos already printed, I just clip them in the notebook until it's time to do PL.

How many notebooks are you currently using?

Happy Something birthday cards

Monday, March 9, 2015

I got the "Happy Something" stamp set by Kal Barteski when Studio Calico had it up for a sale recently. I love Kal's script font. I have friends celebrating birthdays in the next month or two, so I'm ready! I've never actually made cards in advance (although I've been meaning to forever).

The gold embossing powder is my favorite.

I used Project Life cards to make this project quick and simple.

Have a great Monday!

Pocket Letters

Thursday, March 5, 2015

I have some more pocket letters to show you! I also started a Pinterest board about Pocket Letters. I'll be pinning examples, finished projects, tips, ideas, and suggestions. Follow me to keep up with it all!

This pocket letter went to a true kindred spirit - she likes all things bohemian, reading, yoga, and more. We're practically long lost sisters. I used the Simple Life collection from Echo Park. It was designed by Deena Rutter, who also made the Coral Project Life kit.

I love these little canvas stickers!

This went out to a vintage-loving friend.

This last one was for a friend from Instagram. From her feed, I can tell she likes white with bright, happy colors. I hope I captured that with the "Sweet Girl" line from Echo Park.

I filled this pocket with stamped images and print and cuts I made on my Silhouette.

I've had fun making these little mini book marks and inserting them into pockets. I'm finally using up some twine!

26 Books - February

Monday, March 2, 2015

So here's an update on my reading goals. I've finished 3 books for the year and I'm still feeling like 26 books is doable. Plus, we're going on a cruise soon (for our anniversary) so I'll get some reading done on vacation for sure.

1 - A book you own but haven't read
2 - a book that was made into a movie
3 - a book you pick solely because of the cover
4 - a book your friend loves
5 - a book published this year
6 - a book by an author you've never read before
7 - a book by an author you love
8 - a book at the bottom of your "to be read" pile
9 - a book with a color in the title
10 - a book set somewhere you've always wanted to visit
11 - a book you started but never finished
12 - a book with a lion, a witch, or a wardrobe
13 - a book with a female heroine
14 - a book set in the summer
15 - a book of poems
16 - a book you learned about because of this challenge
17 - a book that will make you smarter
18 - a book with a blue cover
19 - a book you were supposed to read in school. But didn't.
21 - a book with a great first line
22 - a book with pictures
23 - a book from the library
24 - a book you loved... read it again!
25 - a book that is more than 10 years old
26 - a book based on a true story

This month I started reading The Light Between Oceans by M. L. Stedman [affiliate link]. I'm counting it as book #2 because apparently Steven Spielberg is going to make it into a movie. It's about a guy who lives an isolated life and works as a lighthouse keeper. I won't give away the plot, but he finds that decisions he and his wife make can affect other people. I liked the book, but it wasn't a fast, easy read.

Read any good books lately?
